The cyclonic storm “Montha”, formed over the Bay of Bengal, has started showing its impact along India’s eastern coast.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclone has made landfall near the coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh, and its effects will be felt across several southern and northern states over the next three days.
Due to Cyclone Montha, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Odisha, West Bengal, and Maharashtra.
The IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea, as strong winds and high waves have been reported along the coast.
In Odisha, districts like Bhubaneswar, Puri, Cuttack, Balasore, and Kendrapara are witnessing continuous rainfall, with wind speeds between 45–65 km/h.
Several districts have been placed under a yellow alert. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu is likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall for the next six days.
In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, weather conditions are expected to remain rough for the next 2–3 days.
Districts like Warangal, Hyderabad, Nalgonda, and Suryapet are likely to see thunderstorms and heavy rain accompanied by strong winds.
Meanwhile, winter has started to set in across North India, including Delhi-NCR.
Morning and evening temperatures are dropping steadily. The IMD predicts partly cloudy skies and light fog during early mornings over the next 2–3 days.
In Delhi, today’s minimum temperature is expected to remain around 17–18°C, while the maximum will be 29–31°C.
Air quality has shown slight improvement, but still remains in the “Very Poor” category (~300 AQI).
The Western Disturbance has become active over Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, bringing chances of rain and snowfall in higher-altitude areas.
In Uttarakhand’s Kumaon and Garhwal regions, temperatures are expected to fall further, increasing the chill.
In Himachal Pradesh, minimum temperatures are likely to drop by 3–4°C over the next few days, intensifying cold wave conditions.
While southern India braces for heavy rain, strong winds, and rough seas due to Cyclone Montha, northern India is witnessing the arrival of winter, with fog and falling temperatures.
The IMD has urged all states to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
