Lucknow: Ahead of the Rabi season, farmers have received great news! The government has announced a 50% subsidy on certified seeds of major Rabi crops.
Now, farmers can buy wheat, gram (chana), pea, lentil, and mustard seeds at half the actual price.
This move aims to reduce the cost of cultivation and increase farmers’ income during the upcoming season.
According to the Agriculture Department, for the Rabi season 2025–26, farmers will receive a 50% subsidy on certified seeds of the following crops:
The government has set crop-wise sowing targets across all districts, and seed distribution will begin soon.
Farmers will need to pay only half of the seed price, while the remaining cost will be borne by the state government.
Each farmer can avail the subsidized seed benefit for up to two hectares of land.
For example, if the certified wheat seed price is ₹4,680 per quintal and the foundation seed price is ₹4,872 per quintal, farmers will get these seeds at 50% discounted rates.
Agriculture officials have confirmed that seed distribution will begin within a week across government seed centers.
Farmers who wish to benefit from this government scheme need to visit their nearest government seed warehouse (Rajkiya Beej Godam).
To avail the subsidy, farmers must carry:
At the seed center, the farmer can authenticate through a POS machine using fingerprint verification, and then purchase the seeds at subsidized rates.
The District Agriculture Officer has appealed to farmers to take advantage of this golden opportunity as early as possible.
He said:
“The government’s aim is to reduce farmers’ production costs and ensure access to high-quality seeds. Every farmer should make sure to avail this subsidy before sowing begins.”
This initiative comes as a Diwali gift for millions of farmers.
It will not only reduce the cost of Rabi crop cultivation but also ensure better productivity and higher profits.
Agricultural experts believe that if farmers collect seeds on time and begin sowing early, this Rabi season could turn out to be a record-yield year for them.
