Uttar Pradesh’s weather is currently going through an interesting phase that’s affecting people’s daily routines and even their choice of clothes. While the days feel hot and sunny, the nights have turned pleasantly cool with a hint of chill in the air. This “dual mood” of the weather has now become a hot topic of discussion across the state.

Why Are Nights Getting Cooler While Days Remain Hot?

If you’re wondering what’s causing this sudden change, meteorologists point to the influence of western winds. According to Dr. Mohammad Danish, the rise in western wind activity has led to a noticeable drop in night temperatures, making nights cooler than usual. However, the strong sunlight during the day continues to bring a sense of warmth. Experts say this pattern is likely to continue for a few more days — expect cool nights and warm days ahead.

IMD Forecast: Dry Weather Likely Till Diwali:

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also shared its latest update on Uttar Pradesh’s weather. Over the past 24 hours, both western and eastern regions of the state have experienced completely dry conditions.

The good news is that IMD has not issued any major weather alerts or warnings for the next five days. From October 15 to October 20, the weather is expected to remain clear and dry across the state. There will be no significant changes in maximum (daytime) or minimum (nighttime) temperatures.

This stable weather comes as a relief, especially for people busy preparing for the upcoming Diwali festival. Clear skies and mild temperatures will make it easier for shoppers and travelers to move around comfortably.

District-wise Temperature Report:

The latest IMD data shows that winter’s first signs are already being felt in Uttar Pradesh — particularly at night.

Coldest Nights:

  1. Barabanki recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 15.5°C, nearly 4.8°C below normal.
  2. Kanpur followed with 15.8°C, while Bahraich saw 17.2°C, and Gorakhpur registered 17.8°C, both around 3°C below normal.
  3. Lucknow, the minimum temperature was 19.4°C, slightly lower than usual.

These readings show that people are beginning to pull out light blankets and quilts as nighttime chill sets in.

Warmest Days:

  1. Urai was the hottest district with a maximum temperature of 34.6°C, about 2.6°C above normal.
  2. Prayagraj recorded 33.6°C, and Lucknow was at 32°C.

Uttar Pradesh’s weather is clearly in a transition phase. The cool nights indicate the early arrival of winter, while warm days still remind people of late summer. This pattern is expected to continue till Diwali, after which temperatures may start dropping further. For now, residents should be ready to adjust to both the warm afternoons and the chilly evenings ahead.
