Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, the government has launched a new initiative called the Pashu Bima Yojana (Animal Insurance Scheme). Under this scheme, livestock farmers can avail free insurance for their animals, safeguarding them from potential risks. However, this free insurance is available to specific categories of farmers, while others can get insurance for a minimal premium.
Who Will Get Free Insurance Benefits?
Scheduled Caste (SC) livestock farmers are eligible for free animal insurance.
Other farmers can insure their small and large animals by paying a nominal premium.
Under the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Samuhik Pashudhan Bima Yojana:
Large animals can be insured for ₹100 to ₹300.
Small animals can be insured for just ₹25.
Which Animals Are Covered and What Are the Premiums?
Farmers can insure their milch cows, buffaloes, bulls, camels, horses, sheep, goats, pigs, and rabbits under this scheme.
Insurance for large animals is available at ₹100 to ₹300, with a maximum coverage of ₹1,25,000.
Insurance for small animals costs ₹25, with a maximum coverage of ₹5,000.
How to Apply for Animal Insurance?
This scheme is available for farmers in Haryana state. To apply, farmers must register online through the SARAL portal.
Application Process:
Register on the SARAL portal.
Receive your login ID and password.
Log in to the portal and fill in your personal details and animal-related information.
Submit the application form after entering all required information.
The concerned officials will verify your details.
Once verified, you will be notified, and your application will be approved.
Documents Required for Application:
Family Identification Document.
Voter ID/Ration Card/Driving License.
Animal Health Certificate.
Caste Certificate (for SC farmers).
Bank Account Details.
