The Bihar government has announced a major benefit for fruit and vegetable farmers in the state. Under the Fourth Agriculture Roadmap, a special intervention scheme will provide 50% to 80% subsidy on essential farm materials, including plastic crates, leno bags, and fruit trap bags.

The government will spend ₹22.25 crore on this initiative, aiming to help farmers with crop protection, packing, grading, and marketing, thereby improving both efficiency and profitability.

Who Can Benefit?

The scheme is available to farmers in all 38 districts of Bihar:

  • Plastic crates and Leno bags – all fruit and vegetable farmers
  • Fruit trap bags – only for banana growers
  • Farmers who have already availed the subsidy under this scheme in the last three years are not eligible this time.

Eligibility Criteria

Farmers must meet the following conditions to avail the scheme:

  • Permanent resident of Bihar
  • Engaged in fruit or vegetable cultivation
  • Registered on the Agriculture Department’s DBT portal

Required Documents

Farmers need to submit the following while applying:

  • Permanent residence certificate
  • Land ownership certificate
  • Land revenue receipts of the last 2 years
  • Online update receipt
  • Genealogy certificate or agreement letter
  • Passport-size photograph

How to Apply

There are two ways to apply:

1. Online via DBT Portal

  • Visit: http://dbtagriculture.bihar.gov.in/
  • Login and upload:
    • Type of material
    • Number of units
    • Required documents

The Agriculture Department urges farmers to apply early, as the budget is limited and applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
