The Rajasthan Government has officially launched the Mangala Pashu Bima Yojana 2025–26 to support livestock owners facing rising challenges due to recurring animal diseases. Conditions like Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD), Lumpy Skin Disease, Mastitis, Milk Fever, and Hemorrhagic Septicemia often lead to major financial losses for farmers. This new scheme aims to provide timely insurance protection and reduce economic risks.
Earlier, the scheme operated through a lottery system, but this year the government has simplified the process and introduced a “First-Come, First-Served” model for smoother and faster implementation.
Livestock in Rajasthan has been severely affected in recent years due to serious diseases that reduce milk productivity and harm reproductive health. These challenges often result in significant losses for farmers.
To address this, the State Government launched the Mangala Pashu Bima Yojana with the primary goal of providing comprehensive insurance coverage to animals. The scheme ensures that farmers receive financial protection in case of disease, injury, or accidental death of their livestock.
According to Rajasthan’s Animal Husbandry Minister Joraram Kumawat, the government aims to provide free insurance for 21 lakh animals under the 2025–26 program.
The first insurance under the new phase was issued to two buffaloes belonging to Surta Devi, a livestock owner from Jeerota village in Ajmer district — reflecting the government’s commitment to the scheme.
To speed up the process, the government has introduced a more efficient system this year.
This will save time and reduce hassle for livestock owners.
Starting today, insurance camps are being organized in every revenue village across Rajasthan. The goal is to ensure maximum participation in the early phase of the scheme.
