Bhopal:In a major relief for farmers, the Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company has launched a new initiative to promote irrigation and provide affordable electricity connections. Under this scheme, rural and urban BPL (Below Poverty Line) consumers can now get a new electricity connection for just ₹5.
According to company officials, thousands of farmers have already benefited from this program and are now able to irrigate their crops more efficiently and at a lower cost.
As per official data from the Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company, 44,709 domestic connections and 65,539 irrigation pump connections have already been issued in rural areas.
In urban regions, 22,106 BPL consumers have also received new electricity connections for just ₹5.
The main objective of this scheme is to ensure that farmers get timely access to electricity for irrigation, thereby improving agricultural productivity.
By offering connections at such low rates, the scheme has significantly reduced the financial burden on farmers.
Company Managing Director Kshitij Singhal informed that consumers can now apply for a new connection from home through the company’s online platforms —
the Saral Sanyojan Portal (saralsanyojan.mpcz.in) or the UPAY mobile app.

Earlier, farmers had to spend thousands of rupees to obtain an electricity connection for irrigation. Now, with this scheme, they can get a new pump connection for just ₹5.
This initiative is proving to be a boon for farmers, helping reduce costs and increase farm productivity.
It also supports the Madhya Pradesh Government’s goal of “Electricity to Every Field, Facility to Every Farmer.”
