Bhopal: On the occasion of Dhanteras, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced a major Diwali gift for the state’s farmers.
Under the new scheme, the government will now provide up to 90% subsidy on solar pumps, meaning farmers will have to pay only 10% of the total cost.
Along with this, the government has also assured 8 to 10 hours of continuous power supply for farmers.
While addressing farmers on Dhanteras, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the power situation in Madhya Pradesh has improved significantly.
He stated —
“Villages are now receiving 24-hour electricity, and farmers are getting 8–10 hours of uninterrupted power supply. The government is committed to ensuring timely and sufficient electricity for every farmer.”
The Chief Minister further added that the government is providing a ₹51,000 subsidy per farmer, which has reduced their electricity bills considerably.
He said this initiative will help increase farmers’ income and boost agricultural productivity across the state.
Dr. Yadav announced that instead of the earlier 40% subsidy, farmers will now have to bear only 10% of the total solar pump cost, while the government will cover the remaining 90%.
He added —
“With the blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we have made this possible. Farmers will now save money and adopt clean solar energy for irrigation.”
This step will help farmers become self-reliant in power generation and reduce dependency on grid electricity.
In a major relief, the Chief Minister announced that even farmers who already have solar pumps installed will be eligible for upgrade benefits under the new subsidy policy.
He explained:
In both cases, the government will provide up to 90% subsidy, significantly reducing farmers’ financial burden.
The Chief Minister said that with solar pumps, farmers will no longer face issues like broken wires or line faults.
They will generate their own electricity directly in the fields, making irrigation cheaper and more reliable.
He added that this initiative will not only save energy but also promote self-reliance among farmers in the state.
The announcement by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav marks a historic step for Madhya Pradesh’s farmers.
This initiative will ensure low-cost irrigation, stable electricity supply, and higher crop production.
It also supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of building an “Energy Self-Reliant India” (Urja Atmanirbhar Bharat), making the scheme both economically and environmentally transformative.
