Wheat Procurement Begins in Punjab, Haryana, and Bihar from April 1:
Starting today, April 1, the government’s wheat procurement process has officially begun in Punjab, Haryana, and Bihar. These states have made all necessary arrangements to facilitate a smooth purchase process. Punjab’s Minister of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs, Lalchand Kataruchak, confirmed that all essential facilities have been set up in mandis to ensure hassle-free procurement.
For this marketing season, the Central Government has fixed the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for wheat at ₹2,425 per quintal. Government procurement had already commenced in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan in March. Now, with Punjab, Haryana, and Bihar joining the process from April 1, farmers in these states will get fair prices for their produce.
This year, farmers selling wheat will receive full MSP payments within 24 hours. To facilitate this, the Punjab government has secured a Cash Credit Limit of ₹28,000 crore, ensuring that there are no delays in farmer payments.
In Bihar, 4,476 PACS (Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies) and trade boards have been authorized to procure wheat. Cooperative banks have allocated ₹208 crore in cash credit to these centers. The Bihar government aims to complete MSP payments within 48 hours.

This year, the government is ensuring quick payments for wheat procurement, benefiting farmers significantly. With Punjab, Haryana, and Bihar starting procurement from today, MSP payments will be completed within 24 to 48 hours. Additionally, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan farmers are receiving extra bonuses, further enhancing their earnings.
