Farmers’ Wait is Over, MSP Registration for Chickpeas and Mustard Begins from April 1 – Know the Complete Process

Harvesting of Rabi crops is in full swing, and to ensure farmers get a fair price for their produce, the government is starting procurement at Minimum Support Price (MSP). The Rajasthan government has announced the registration dates and procedure for MSP procurement of chickpeas (chana) and mustard (sarson). Rajasthan’s Cooperative Minister Gautam Kumar Daka stated that all preparations for purchasing mustard and chickpeas for Rabi season 2025-26 have been completed.

What is the MSP for Mustard and Chickpeas?

The central government has fixed the MSP for the upcoming Rabi season as follows:

• Mustard: ₹5,950 per quintal
• Chickpeas: ₹5,650 per quintal

This year, 505 procurement centers have been set up in Rajasthan for both chickpeas and mustard. Farmers can register at e-Mitra centers starting April 1.

MSP Procurement Begins from April 10:

According to the state government, Rajasthan’s estimated production this year is:

• Mustard: 62 lakh metric tonnes
• Chickpeas: 23 lakh metric tonnes

Under the target set by the Government of India:

• 13.89 lakh metric tonnes of mustard will be procured.
• 6.30 lakh metric tonnes of chickpeas will be procured.

Farmers must register from April 1 to sell their produce at MSP, while procurement will commence from April 10.

505 Procurement Centers in Rajasthan:

This year, NAFED and NCCF will handle the procurement of pulses and oilseeds. With the support of RAJFED, the state government has released a district-wise list of procurement centers.

Distribution of centers:

• NCCF: 217 centers each for mustard and chickpeas in 19 districts.
• NAFED: 288 centers each for mustard and chickpeas in 21 districts.

How to Register for MSP Sale of Mustard and Chickpeas:

• Farmers can register at their nearest e-Mitra center from April 1, 2025.
• Girdawari report and passbook must be uploaded along with the registration form.
• Procurement will be based on biometric authentication.
• Farmers must ensure their produce meets FAQ (Fair Average Quality) standards to sell at MSP.

Improve Crop Quality and Get Fair Price:

The Cooperative Minister has urged farmers to clean and sieve their produce before bringing it to the procurement centers. This ensures the produce meets quality standards, allowing farmers to easily get the MSP.

The Rajasthan government is starting MSP registration from April 1 for chickpeas and mustard, and procurement will begin from April 10. Timely registration is mandatory for farmers to get fair prices for their crops.
