The Narendra Modi-led government has made a significant decision by extending the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan (PM-AASHA Scheme) until 2025-26. The primary objective of this scheme is to ensure farmers receive fair prices for their crops while maintaining the stability of essential commodity prices. Under this scheme, the government has approved the 100% procurement of tur (pigeon pea), urad (black gram), and masoor (lentil) at Minimum Support Price (MSP), directly benefiting farmers.
To promote pulse production and reduce dependency on imports, the government has approved the procurement of tur (arhar), urad, and masoor at 100% MSP. This ensures that farmers receive the full value of their produce without facing challenges in selling their crops in the market.
For the Kharif 2024-25 season, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has approved the procurement of 13.22 lakh tonnes of tur at MSP across Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh.
Scheme Extended for Four More Years:
In Budget 2025, the government announced an extension of the 100% MSP procurement of tur, urad, and masoor for the next four years to make India self-sufficient in pulse production. This step will prove beneficial for farmers and strengthen their economic security. The government may also include other pulses under this scheme in the future.
Great News for Farmers – Full Profit for Their Hard Work!
With 100% MSP procurement under PM-AASHA, farmers will no longer suffer losses or face selling challenges. Their income will increase, and the scheme will play a crucial role in enhancing food security and empowering farmers financially.
