India Meteorological Department (IMD) has recently predicted rainfall in several parts of the country. Light to moderate rainfall is expected in Delhi-NCR over the next 24-48 hours. This weather change is due to the activity of a western disturbance impacting the northern states of India. Additionally, parts of Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan are also likely to experience rainfall.

Along with rainfall, strong winds are also expected, which could further lower the temperature. The weather department has also warned that the cold may intensify due to the rains.

Rain Likely in Delhi-NCR Today:

Rain during the winter season in Delhi-NCR always brings a special change. It not only intensifies the cold but also helps in reducing air pollution levels. Since this morning, many areas of Delhi-NCR have been under cloudy skies, with rainfall expected by afternoon.

According to the weather department, the minimum temperature is likely to range between 6-8°C, while the maximum could reach 15-17°C. With cold winds and rain, the chill is expected to persist throughout the day.

Cold Wave and Fog Warning in Other States:

Over the past few days, many northern states of India have been experiencing severe cold waves. Minimum temperatures in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan have dropped to 2-5°C. IMD has issued warnings of cold waves and dense fog in these regions.

Due to dense fog, visibility is significantly reduced, which can impact road and rail traffic. Drivers are advised to exercise extra caution. Additionally, elderly individuals, children, and those with illnesses should take extra precautions to stay warm.

IMD’s Cold Weather Advisory:

  • Wear warm clothes and keep yourself fully covered when stepping out.
  • Pay special attention to keeping the elderly and children warm.
  • Consume warm beverages and stay hydrated.
  • Follow safety measures when using heaters or fire indoors.
  • Avoid travel, if possible, and stay indoors during the coldest days.

Protecting Crops and Livestock: Weather changes have the greatest impact on farmers and their crops. Rain and cold waves can damage crops. IMD has advised farmers to take necessary measures to protect their crops.

  • Wheat and Mustard Crops: Use proper coverings to shield these crops from rain and hailstorms.
  • Livestock Care: Keep animals in warm and dry places, provide adequate food and water, and give them warm water to drink to prevent cold-related issues.
  • Greenhouse Crops: Use heaters to maintain a controlled temperature inside greenhouses.

This weather change could affect daily life and pose challenges for farmers and transportation systems. People are advised to remain cautious and follow the weather department's warnings. Ensuring the safety of crops and livestock should be a priority during this time.
