Farmers, if you cultivate mustard or closely track its market prices, today brings exceptionally good news. Mustard rates across major mandis in India are witnessing a powerful upward trend, with prices shooting up to ₹7,000 per quintal, well above the MSP.
In key markets of Rajasthan and Haryana, the strong rally in Sarso prices has created a golden earning opportunity for farmers.

Even after the government’s new MSP announcement, mandi prices continue to trade above the support price—indicating that mustard farmers are finally receiving excellent returns for their hard work. Whether you still have unsold stock or are preparing for the new harvest season, this detailed report will greatly help you understand where prices stand, how MSP has changed, and what direction rates may move in the coming days.

Strong Price Rally in Rajasthan and Haryana Mandis

According to data from the e-NAM portal, between 2–5 December 2025, several major mandis in Rajasthan—including Baran, Malpura, Nadbai, Niwai, Khanpur, and Hindaun—reported model prices ranging from ₹6,400 to ₹7,070 per quintal.

In Haryana, Rewari Mandi recorded a maximum price of ₹9,578 per quintal, placing it among the strongest price ranges in the country.

Arrivals remain steady, while demand and procurement are strong. As a result, farmers are earning significantly higher profits compared to previous years.

New MSP for Mustard (RMS 2026–27): Increased to ₹6,200 per Quintal

The government has once again raised the MSP for mustard.

  • Previous MSP: ₹5,950/quintal
  • New MSP (RMS 2026–27): ₹6,200/quintal
  • Estimated cost of production: ₹3,210/quintal

Based on this calculation, farmers are earning up to 93% returns. If market prices continue to stay above MSP, these returns may climb even higher.

Old-Season Mustard Also Fetching Strong Profit — ₹600 to ₹1,100 Above MSP

Most of the produce currently arriving in mandis belongs to the previous season.

Last year’s MSP was ₹5,950, but current mandi prices are hovering around ₹6,500–₹7,000/quintal.

This means farmers are receiving ₹600 to ₹1,100 more than MSP.

With an estimated production cost of around ₹3,011/quintal, farmers are earning more than double their cost—one of the best profit margins of recent years.

Rabi Season: Strong Surge in Mustard & Rapeseed Sowing

This year, sowing of oilseed crops during the Rabi season has advanced at a faster pace compared to last year.

  • Significant increase in mustard and rapeseed sowing
  • Rise in sowing of kusum and sesame
  • Slight decline in groundnut sowing

At present, mustard remains the most profitable oilseed crop for farmers. In many districts, sowing is still in progress, while in others the crop has already reached the first irrigation and fertilizer stage.

Market Outlook: What’s Next for Mustard Prices?

The current trend is highly encouraging for growers. However, the final price behaviour will depend on arrival volumes after harvest.

If arrivals remain in check and oil mills continue active procurement, mustard prices are likely to maintain their strength.
