Good news for farmers in Uttar Pradesh! Soon, farmers across villages will receive free Soil Health Cards, allowing them to assess the quality of their farm soil and understand the levels of nutrients present. With this information, they will be able to determine which fertilizers are needed—and which are not—ultimately helping them reduce input costs and increase yield.

Soil Testing Through a Mobile App:

Under the Government of India's Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PMRKVY) 2025–26, a dedicated mobile application has been developed for soil testing. This initiative is being implemented at the Gram Panchayat level as part of the Kharif 2025 season.

Key Features of the Campaign:

  • A total of 100 soil samples will be collected from each village.
  • Approximately 70% of the Gram Panchayats in the state have been selected through a random process.
  • Soil testing will be conducted via the mobile app, making the process faster and more accessible.

Campaign Dates:

The campaign will be carried out in phases across 16,520 Gram Panchayats in all districts of Uttar Pradesh. The scheduled dates for soil sample collection are:

  1. April 21
  2. April 25
  3. April 29
  4. May 5, 2025

On these dates, soil samples will be collected in the selected Gram Panchayats, and Soil Health Cards will be issued to farmers after testing.

Benefits of the Soil Health Card:

  1. Farmers will know which nutrients are present in the soil and which are deficient.
  2. They can choose fertilizers more efficiently, reducing unnecessary expenses.
  3. Targeted fertilizer application will lead to improved crop production.
  4. Soil fertility will be preserved in the long term.
  5. The initiative also supports environmental conservation.

Agriculture Department’s Appeal:

The Agriculture Department has appealed to all farmers to actively participate in this campaign. When the soil testing camps are organized in their villages, farmers are encouraged to submit soil samples from their fields, get them tested through the mobile app, and receive their Soil Health Cards. This will help them adopt a more scientific approach to farming.
