The cycle of weather changes continues across the country. While the intense sunlight over the past few days in the capital, Delhi, has given people a taste of summer, many parts of the country are experiencing cold weather and fog. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued region-specific weather forecasts for the coming days.

Delhi: Drop in Minimum Temperature Expected:

Despite the bright sunshine during the day, the cold weather in the mornings and nights is expected to return in Delhi. According to the weather department, the minimum temperature is likely to drop by 2°C starting today. Over the past few days, daytime temperatures have been above normal, but the next 48 hours could see an increase in cold conditions during mornings and nights.

Dense Fog in North India:

Dense fog is likely to persist in several parts of North India. The weather department has issued a warning for dense fog in parts of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and northeastern states (excluding Arunachal Pradesh). Visibility during this period could drop significantly, affecting road and rail transportation. Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, in particular, are expected to see severe fog along with cold conditions.

Thunderstorms and Hailstorms in Sikkim and the Northeast:

The weather department has issued an alert for thunderstorms and hailstorms in parts of Sikkim and the northeastern states. On January 29 and 30, areas like Sikkim, Meghalaya, and Nagaland are expected to experience thunderstorms and hailstorms. Farmers in these regions are advised to take precautions to protect their crops.

Rainfall Likely in South India: Some parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu in South India could witness rain on January 30 and 31. Weather experts suggest that a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is causing the likelihood of light to moderate rainfall in these states. Additionally, coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka may also experience light rain.

Western Disturbances and Cold Winds: The impact of western disturbances, which increase the cold in North India, is expected to resurface. Snowfall could begin in the upper Himalayan regions, leading to stronger cold winds in the plains. Minimum temperatures may dip below normal in parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan.

Impact on Crops: Farmers on Alert: The changing weather patterns could directly affect crops. Particularly in areas where hailstorms and rain are expected, rabi crops might suffer damage. Farmers are advised to take adequate measures to protect their crops. This period is critical for wheat and mustard crops in Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
