Farmers now have a big opportunity to install solar pumps with financial support from both the Central Government and the Uttar Pradesh Government. By applying before 15 December, farmers can enjoy free electricity and low-cost irrigation, reducing production costs and becoming energy self-reliant.
The UP Government has set a target to provide subsidies for 40,521 solar pumps under the PM-KUSUM scheme for 2025–26. The scheme covers nine different capacities of solar pumps, allowing farmers to install pumps in their fields at reduced costs.
With a solar pump, farmers can eliminate electricity bills and carry out 24-hour uninterrupted irrigation.
The subsidy amount varies depending on the pump’s capacity and type. Pumps ranging from 2 HP to 10 HP are eligible for combined support from the Centre and State Government, enabling both small and large farmers to choose according to their needs.
2 HP DC/AC Surface Pump
2 HP DC Submersible Pump
2 HP Commercial Pump
10 HP Submersible Pump (Maximum Subsidy)
Note: Higher-capacity pumps receive larger subsidies.
Farmers can apply online to avail the subsidy.
Steps:
The process is simple and farmer-friendly, ensuring that everyone can benefit from the scheme.
In addition to the subsidy, farmers will also get relief on bank loans. Both the State and Central Government provide 3% interest concession each, totaling 6%, making pump installation even more affordable.
With a solar pump:
This scheme is a game-changer for sustainable agriculture, helping farmers save costs, boost income, and ensure uninterrupted irrigation.
