The Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh is launching a unique initiative aimed at making the state’s gaushalas (cow shelters) self-reliant. Under this program, “Cow Tourism” will be promoted across all 75 districts of the state. The scheme aims not only to strengthen gaushalas financially but also to create employment and self-employment opportunities for local communities.
Following the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state government has decided to establish a model gaushala in each district, which will also serve as a tourism attraction. These Cow Tourism Centers will offer visitors insights into:
Dairy and Animal Husbandry Minister Dharmapal Singh explained that the government aims to expand the commercial use of cow products — including dung, urine, milk, curd, ghee, and other derivative products.
This will not only make gaushalas self-sufficient but also give a boost to the rural economy.

Local markets will be used to sell these products, and awareness campaigns will be conducted to encourage their use during festivals like Diwali.
Mukesh Meshram, Principal Secretary of the Animal Husbandry Department, stated that special local plans are being developed for the commercial utilization of cow dung and urine.
