The Madhya Pradesh government has announced a bonus of ₹175 per quintal on the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for wheat, bringing direct benefits to over 8.1 million farmers in the state. The government procurement of wheat will begin on March 1, 2025.

₹175 Bonus for Wheat Farmers:

The state government has completed all necessary arrangements and decided to offer farmers a price above the MSP.

  • The central government has set the MSP for wheat at ₹2,425 per quintal.
  • However, the Madhya Pradesh government will provide an additional ₹175 per quintal, ensuring that farmers receive a total of ₹2,600 per quintal.

Wheat Procurement at ₹2,600 per Quintal:

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that this year, wheat will be procured at ₹2,600 per quintal.

  • Last year, farmers received a bonus of ₹125 per quintal, making the maximum price ₹2,400 per quintal.
  • This year, the bonus has been increased to ₹175, allowing farmers to earn better profits.

Government Procurement Begins on March 1, Payment Within 48 Hours:

  • Wheat procurement will start on March 1 in Madhya Pradesh.
  • The government has assured payment within 48 hours of selling the crop, ensuring financial stability for farmers.
  • The Chief Minister has also instructed officials to set up facilities like drinking water, shade, and other essential services at procurement centers and mandis.

Expected Record Wheat Production:

  • Madhya Pradesh has an average wheat cultivation area of 7.5 million hectares, with harvesting already underway in the Malwa region.
  • According to the Union Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, India's wheat production is expected to reach 115 million metric tons this year, surpassing last year's 113.2 million metric tons.

The Madhya Pradesh government's decision will increase farmers' earnings and improve their financial stability. With the procurement beginning on March 1, over 8.1 million farmers will benefit, receiving ₹2,600 per quintal for their wheat. This initiative will ensure fair compensation for their hard work and boost wheat production in the state.
