Are rising cultivation costs, labour shortages, and delayed sowing becoming a burden for you? If yes, here’s some good news. A modern agricultural machine has arrived in Madhya Pradesh that allows farmers to sow crops directly without ploughing the field. Yes—the Zero Tillage Machine is proving to be nothing short of a boon for farmers.

In Chhindwara district, farmers using this technology have witnessed impressive savings in labour and diesel, along with noticeable improvements in soil health and crop productivity. With guidance from BISA scientists and support from the Agriculture Department, this innovative technology is now reaching thousands of farmers. From small farmers to women farmers, everyone is adopting it to make farming easier and more profitable.

If you also want to benefit from this revolutionary solution, you can apply for the machine at a highly subsidized rate through the MP DAGE portal, under the subsidy scheme provided by the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

Why is this machine special? How does it work? How is it changing farmers’ lives? Read the complete report and decide whether your farm too needs this smart new upgrade.

BISA Scientists: The Driving Force Behind the Success

Scientists from the Borlaug Institute for South Asia (BISA) have played a key role in promoting this technology across the region. Technical Assistant Dipendra Singh trained farmers on operating the machine and explained its advantages—preserving soil moisture, eliminating ploughing costs, reducing diesel consumption, and converting stubble into organic matter.

A successful field demonstration at the farm of farmer Kishori Pawar in Kamthi village created widespread awareness among farmers in the area.

What Is the Zero Tillage Model?

Impressed by the results, farmer Hemant Yadav from Parasia became the first in the district to purchase a Zero Till machine. He not only used it on his own fields but also started renting it out, which helped him double his income. This inspired many other farmers to adopt the no-till sowing method with confidence.

A Lifeline for Farmers, Especially Women

For Rajkali, a woman farmer from Jamaniya Jethu village, the Zero Tillage Machine became a blessing during a difficult time. After her husband’s death, managing farming activities alone became a challenge, especially due to labour shortages.

According to her:
“The Zero Tillage Machine has been a blessing. It allows timely wheat sowing with less effort and without ploughing. I don’t need to burn stubble, and the soil becomes more fertile.”

This technology is opening new pathways of independence for rural women.

Support From the Agriculture Engineering Department

Agriculture Engineering Department official Sameer Patel informed that farmers can apply online for the machine on the MP DAGE portal from 10 November. Applicants must upload a bank DD while applying. The subsidy makes the machine affordable and helps ensure its availability across villages.

Available for Every Farmer

According to Deputy Director Agriculture Jitendra Kumar Singh,
farmers with 35–40 HP tractors can easily operate this machine.
The Zero Tillage Machine enables timely sowing and effectively eliminates the problem of stubble burning.

What Is a Zero Tillage Machine?

The Zero Tillage Machine (also known as No-Till Seed Drill or Zero Till Drill) is a modern agricultural implement that sows seeds directly without ploughing the field.
Its furrow openers disturb the soil minimally and drop seeds at the right depth through pipes, ensuring precise and efficient sowing.
