The cold wave is intensifying in Uttar Pradesh. According to the Amousi Weather Center in Lucknow, the minimum temperature recorded in Meerut on Wednesday was 6.0°C, the lowest in the state. Many other districts also saw temperatures around the same level.
Due to the drop in maximum temperatures and the cold wave, severe cold is being experienced during the day as well. There has been no sunshine in several parts of the state, including Lucknow, for the past few days, which has increased the chill. According to the weather department, there is a possibility of rain in Saharanpur, Bijnor, Rampur, and surrounding districts on January 6, which is expected to further increase the cold.
The Regional Meteorological Department has forecast clear weather in many parts of the state on January 2. However, cold wave alerts have been issued for districts like Shrawasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, and Baghpat. There is also a possibility of a cold wave in Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Bijnor, Amroha, and Moradabad.
In districts like Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Sambhal, Shahjahanpur, and Badaun, the maximum temperature is expected to drop below 14°C. There may also be light to moderate fog during late night and early morning.
Expecting Biting Cold:
Meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh mentioned that the cold and chill are continuously increasing due to icy northwest winds. The drop in maximum temperatures over the past two days has made the daytime feel colder. Further reductions in minimum and maximum temperatures are likely in the coming days.
Forecast for January:
According to the weather department, temperatures in some parts of northern, central, and eastern India are expected to remain below normal in January. Meanwhile, the western and northern regions of central India may experience more cold days than usual. Additionally, most parts of the country are expected to see higher-than-normal maximum temperatures.
Increasing Challenges with Cold:
The cold has already impacted daily life in many parts of the state. In districts like Meerut, the drop in temperature has led to increased chill. People have been advised to wear adequate warm clothing to protect themselves from the cold wave and stay alert.
