With winter at its peak in Uttar Pradesh, cold winds and fog have made life challenging for residents. People are forced to stay indoors as the cold weather disrupts daily life. The Meteorological Department has issued a cold day and dense fog alert for 40 districts on January 7 (Tuesday). In Lucknow and surrounding areas, dense fog will persist in the morning and night. While there may be some sunlight during the day, it is not expected to last long.
Lucknow and other districts in Uttar Pradesh are likely to remain under dense fog until January 10. During this time, night temperatures may decrease by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius. On Monday morning, Lucknow witnessed heavy fog, reducing visibility to almost zero in several areas. According to Atul Kumar Singh, a scientist at the Regional Meteorological Center, western disturbances may bring rainfall to the state on January 11 and 12.
Daytime temperatures in Lucknow were recorded at 17.7 degrees Celsius, 2.7 degrees below normal, while nighttime temperatures dipped to 7 degrees Celsius, 0.6 degrees below normal. Sufficient moisture due to western disturbances is keeping the region cold and foggy.
Weather experts predict clear skies on January 7, 8, and 9, but parts of western and eastern Uttar Pradesh may experience cold to severe cold days along with dense fog. The weather will remain dry until January 10, with light fog expected at night and early morning. There is no warning for adverse weather during this period, but light rainfall may occur afterward.
